One of Málaga’s most important historic monuments is the Roman Theatre. It is situated in the city’s historic quarter, just a few metres from the hill of the Alcazaba. Despite dating back to the first century BC, these ruins were not discovered until 1951.

If you love history, you will find this place fascinating. They are the archaeological remains of ancient Malacca. These are the principal ruins that are conserved in the city of Málaga. Entry is free and it is open all year round, except for Monday.

In an ancient fort dating back to 500 BC, we can find Málaga’s Alcazaba. Its notable features include the materials from Málaga's Roman Theatre which were used in its construction. Its name comes from the Arabic word for citadel.

Málaga’s Alcazaba is one of the most visited places in the south of Spain. It is a palatial fort from the Islamic period in Spain. King Taifas Bereber of Granada ordered it to be built between 1057 and 1063.

Málaga is full of art and culture. Thanks to this, you will find a whole host of museums lining its beautiful streets. One of the most famous is the Picasso Museum. The works of this great artist, who was originally from Málaga, are displayed in this ancient palace. It is very easy to visit as it is open every day of the week from 10am until 6pm.
